Two Packer gymnasts qualified for the state meet at the Section 1A meet in Caledonia Saturday.

Austin seventh grader Sela Fadness will advance to state in the vault and all-around and eleventh grader Sabrina Snater will advance in the floor and bars.

The state gymnastics meet takes place Thursday and Friday at the University of Minnesota.

Fadness took fourth in the vault and third all-around Saturday and Snater was second on the floor and fourth on the bars.

Austin finished fourth in team competition.

“Bars and beam both were subpar events for us on Saturday,” Austin head coach Mark Raymond said. “They were both well off the mark set at the Big Nine invite. Poor performances on these two events dropped our team score out of the 137 range we were looking for down to a 134 on the day.”

Class ‘A’ competition begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the championships starting at 11 a.m. Friday.
