After a successful debut at the 2008 Mower County Free Fair, the “Pride of Mower” ceremony will again be held at Fair Square Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Mower County residents, families and organizations will be recognized for their contribution to the community. Recognition and awards will be presented to the Fair Person of the Year; Century Farm owners; Farm Family of The Year; Outstanding Senior Citizen; Outstanding Service Organization; and Livestock Hall of Fame.

The 2008 winners of the awards were:

Fair Person of The Year, Bill Klingerman

Century Farm Owners, Jax, Renken and Schwartz families

Farm Family of the Year, Ray and Dorothy Sayles farm

Outstanding Senior Volunteer, Beverly Smith

Outstanding Service Organization, Adams American Legion Post No. 146

Livestock Hall of Fame, Ron Seath

The 125th Mower County Free Fair will be held Aug. 11-16 at the fairgrounds in southwest Austin.
