Much to do at the Mower County Senior Center

February may be the shortest month of the year, but there’s room enough to make it one of the busiest.
Just witness the events happening at the Mower County Senior Center.
The Macular Degeneration Support Group meets this Wednesday and the second Wednesday of each month.
The support group is for everyone living with macular degeneration visual impairment or their caregivers.
The group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the MCSC.
A suggested donation of $3 for people 60 and older is asked or $5 for those 59 and younger.

Travel show
Evie’s Travel and the MCSC are co-sponsoring a travel show from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
At 2 p.m. there will be a special Christmas Cruise to Alaska presentation.
The travel show is open to the public. There is no charge and no reservations are required. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.
Semcac roast been dinner
Semcac will serve a roast beef dinner at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13.
The cost is $3 for seniors and $5 for non-seniors.
Reservations are needed in advance because of the popularity of the roast beef dinner.
Clinics
There was no eye care clinic in January at the MCSC, but the clinics will resume this month.
The eye care clinic will be held, beginning at 1 p.m. in the lobby Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Other clinics are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12, when a wellness clinic begins at 1:30 p.m. and a hearing aid clinic begins at 3:15 p.m.
The clinics will be repeated at the MCSC March 12 (wellness) and March 19 (hearing aid).
Heart Health Seminar
Dr. Juliet O’Donnell will host a Heart Health Seminar for seniors at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Dr. O’Donnell will discuss normal and unhealthy heart functions.
The physicians will also examine warning signs of heart attack or stroke.
The seminar will be offered free of charge.
Defensive driving classes
Defensive driving classes begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the MCSC.
The cost for the four-hour classes is $16 for members and $19 for non-members.
Successful completion of the Defensive Driving Classes is necessary to obtain insurance discounts.
All students must register in advance.
