LETTER: Photo ID Bill common sense
Published 10:16 am Thursday, February 19, 2009
Just to inform anyone who may have voted for Rep Poppe, here is what you voted for. Bill HF57, the Photo ID Bill, would have required a government issued photo ID when voting. It’s common sense if you ask me. For those of you who feel like this would descriminate against the poor, there was a provision put into the bill that would provide free of charge an ID card to any eligible voter who does not have a current photo ID. Apparently, this still was not good enough for our Rep. Poppe, and she still voted against it. In the mist of a legal battle over the Senate seat, you would think that Mrs. Poppe would find this bill, with 80 percent of the public backing, a worthy cause to vote in favor of to protect her area’s best interests. For those of you who are against voter fraud, I urge you to call Rep. Poppe and ask her to expain why she will not protect the rights of legal voters in this state.
