It’s music to our ears

In some school districts throughout the country, music is the first program that gets cut when finances get tight.
This is unfortunate because music introduces students to important music history and gives them an opportunity to learn an instrument and add another level to their education.
Fortunately at Austin High School, music is alive and well.
Several local students will represent Austin at the 2009 Minnesota Music Educations Association convention as part of the All-State Orchestra, Band and Choir ensembles Feb. 13-14.
Rehearsals will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center, with several concerts presented Saturday, Feb. 14.
It is very difficult to juggle school work with extracurricular activities, and we commend these students for their hard work.
