The classroom is quite a bit different today than just a few years ago. Our students have grown up in an era where technology plays a major role, from iPods to computers to text messaging friends between English and geometry.

Teachers and administrators are faced with the tough challenge of embracing this technology, finding ways to teach it to their students and then looking for options to fund them.

At Ellis Middle School, they seem to be on the right track.

Instructional Media Center teacher Marilyn Oswald implemented a video production class roughly three years ago that has been well received. Students are now introduced to voice narration and are taught video production ethics.

It is important to find new ways to challenge our students, especially in this age of advanced technology.

Oswald is up to that challenge, and we commend her for her accomplishments.
