Ida L. Miller, 97
Ida L. Miller, 97, of Belle Plaine, Minn., died on Feb. 2, 2009 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Ida was born on April 19, 1911 in New Lisbon, Wis. the daughter of Ira and Ida (Parker) Butterfield. She moved with her family at a young age to Blooming Prairie, Minn. and then to Grand Marais, Minn. where she grew up and attended schools. She married Truman W. Miller on Oct. 16, 1928 at Grand Marais. They made their home in area until 1943, when they moved to the Winnebago, Minn. area. The lived there until moving to the Aitkin area in 1953. She had resided in the Aitkin area until 1995 when she moved to Minneapolis to live with her daughter. In Oct. 2004 she moved to the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, and had resided there since. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, needlework and watching and feeding birds. She had been a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nordland Township near Aitkin.
She is survived by three children, Rose Suserud, Good Thunder, Minn., Philip and Janet Miller, Austin, Ida W. Miller, Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truman in 1975; son, Bert in 1965; two sisters, Ruth and Mabel; two brothers, Ira and Harry; son-in-law, John Suserud.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church near Aitkin, with the Reverend Cynthia Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Needle Cemetery near McGregor, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Tuesday. Arrangements are being made with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
