Elaine Cue, 84, of Webster City, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at Crestview Senior Living in Webster City.
Elaine Evenson, daughter of Even and Olga Evenson was born on Nov. 3, 1924 in Austin. She received her education from the Austin Community Schools, graduating in 1942. On Dec. 5, 1947 she married Keith L. Cue at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. During Mr. Cue’s career with the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, the family moved to Cherokee, Waterloo, Champaign, Chicago, Charles City, Dubuque and back to Waterloo. In addition to other positions, Elaine worked for the Waterloo Community School District in the media Department for over eight years until her retirement in 1980. For several years Elaine and Keith lived in retirement in Osage. In 1986, the couple moved to Webster City. Keith died on Dec. 25, 1998. Elaine had been residing at Crestview Senior Living since April 2004. Elaine was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster City. She loved to volunteer in many church activities, especially quilt making.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen (Curtis) Preston, Greenfield, Wis.; sons, Ronald (Lynda) Cue, Ashland, Ore. and Robert (Beverly) Cue, Altoona, Iowa; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Stephenson, Dexter, Minn. and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Keith, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Pearly, Arnold, Melvin and Donald Evenson; sister, Evelyn McCawley and twin sister, Lorraine McCaffrey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dr. Mike Kroona officiating. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening and after 9 a.m. on Friday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, the Trinity Kitchen Fund or the Trinity Quilt fund.
