Second period troubles continued to haunt the Austin boys hockey team in a 9-1 loss to Winona in Riverside Arena Thursday.
The Winhawks (12-10-1 overall) scored seven times in the second period after the game was tied 0-0 after the first period. Austin (0-19-1 overall) scored once in the third when Adam McMasters knocked in a goal on an assist from Luke Bennett.
“In the first period we played awesome. But the second period was tough,” Austin head coach Tim Peterson said. “We played a good two-thirds of a game and that kind of sums up our season.”
Brady Klingfus had 55 saves for Austin and the Packers attempted 20 shots.
