Two adults and two juveniles are in custody and face charges in connection with a vandalism spree this week in Austin.
The Austin Police Department announced the arrests of two 18-year-olds — one male and one female — and two male juveniles in connection overnight tire slashings on vehicles parked along Second Avenue Northeast, vehicle window smashings at Kuehn Motor Company and pop machine vandalism at Ankeny’s No. 1 Convenience Store and Gas Station.
The acts occurred overnight Tuesday and Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Mower County Attorney’s office said the two adults could appear in district court later today.
The juveniles remain held in a detention facility pending their court appearances.
As many as 10 or more vehicles had their tires slashed.
In a separate incident, AB Taxi reported three vehicles vandalized.
No total of the vehicles damaged at Kuehn Motor Company was available.
The Austin Police Department received a telephone call from a resident who lives near Kuehn Motor Company who helped police arrest three of the suspects. The trio then implicated a male juvenile, who was apprehended in Wildwood Park.
According to police, the suspects are acquaintances of each other, but not related.
