Virgil O. Turbenson, 82
Virgil Owen Turbenson, 82, of Austin died on Jan. 13, 2009 at Season’s Hospice in Rochester.
Virgil was born Jan. 30, 1926 in Bloomfield Township, Fillmore County, Minn., to Arnold and Nora (Johnson) Turbenson. He married Shirley Weeks and then later Margaret Seleskie. Virgil served as a staff sargeant in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean War. He was also a retired employee of Hormel Foods, having worked there for 33 years.
Virgil loved fishing, his flower gardens and traveling. He most loved his grandchildren and being at family gatherings.
Survivors include his son, David (Donna) McLaughlin; grandchildren, Angela (Jeff) Thomas, Michelle McLaughlin, Kellie McLaughlin; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Joyce) Turbenson, all of Spring Valley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley; second wife, Margaret; brother, Harold.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 at Mayer Funeral Home with Todd Portinga officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service on Friday.
