Patrick R. “Pat” Miles, 63
Patrick R. “Pat” Miles, 63, of Hooper, Neb., died on Jan. 28, 2009.
Patrick grew up in Austin. He served in the Navy from May of 1964 to May of 1968 aboard the U.S.S. Kamehameha Submarine during the Vietnam war. He then served in the Naval Reserves from 1968 to 1975 and then the army reserves from 1977 to 2005 and retired as Command Sergeant Major. He married Marcia “Marcy” Klubertanz on May 22, 1971 in Crystal, Minn. He moved to Minneapolis, Minn. in 1968 and to Fremont, Neb. in 1971 He moved to hooper and was employed in the area for over 35 years, retiring in 2007. Pat was a member of the American Legion Post #18 and the VFW Post 10535.
Pat is survived by his wife, Marcy; three sons, Zachary (Jennifer) Miles, Wichita Falls, Texas, Joshua Miles, Lillington, N.C., Josiah (Cheri) Miles, Hooper, Neb.; daughter, Michelle (Daniel) Engel, Ames, Neb.; sister-in-law, Sharon Miles, Fridley, Minn.; six grandchildren, Jabin and Chloe Swanson, Kaleb and Alayne Miles and Shannon and Madison Engel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Elizabeth (Rank) Miles, and brother, Mike Miles.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 30, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont with the Rev. Scott Jensen officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Honor Guard from Post # 854 and American Legion Post #20. Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremon, Neb. is in charge of arrangements. A memorial will be established in his name for pancreatic cancer research.
