Packers bow out to Windom

A tough second period put an end to the Packer boys hockey team’s hopes in an 8-0 loss to Windom Area Saturday at Riverside Arena.

Austin (0-8 overall) killed two power plays in the first period and Packers goalie Brady Klingfus had 17 first period saves as Windom (5-4 overall) scored just once in the first frame.

But Windom scored four goals in a span of three minutes in the third period to put the game out of reach. First, Trevor Hage scored on a breakaway, then Brandon Fast — who had a hat trick — scored on a slapshot, and Adam Eisenmenger scored on a putback to score a powerplay goal. Fast closed the rally with another breakaway score to make it 5-0 with 10 minutes left in the second period.
