May we please have some more?

The local Noon Lions Club hosted its 50th annual Pancake Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church. Organizers say they usually serve about 2,000 people during the fundraiser that features hot cakes, French toast and sausage.

Tickets cost $5 a piece, and yesterday the Lions Club had a consistent flow of customers.

In this poor economy, we need more fundraisers like this one. Food is a necessity and people budget for it, so it makes sense to put on an event that provides food at a low cost and raises funds for our service organizations at the same time.

It’s no surprise Pancake Day has lasted five decades. It’s good food, it’s well organized and it’s done for the right reasons.
