With their leading scorer being fazed out, the LeRoy/Ostrander boys basketball team turned to a sophomore sharpshooter to carry the load in a 61-44 win at Glenville/Emmons Friday.
Kirk Nelson hit seven three-pointers and scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Cardinals (5-3 overall, 4-1 SEC) as Josh Rowe was held to eight points.
“The were scrappy and did a good job on shutting down Josh,” L/O head coach Jason Herber said. “This was a solid win for us.”
L/O scoring: Nelson, 23; Michael Knight, 13; Mark Miller, 10; Rowe, 8; Dylan Mackey, 7; free throws: 57 percent (12-for-21)
