LETTER: Retiring from the Park Board
Published 1:16 pm Saturday, January 17, 2009
Realizing that it was perhaps a slow news day last Wednesday, Jan. 7, as reported in the following Thursday paper, I nonetheless feel it necessary to dispel any rumors that I tried to “sell” my seat (appointed by the mayor) on the Park and Recreation Advisory Board, or that I was resigning (retiring) from the board to become a captain on the Spam Town Belle (which would have been a conflict of interests if I had remained on the board.)
I do, however, appreciate the Herald’s acknowledgment of my departure.
During the eight-plus years I served on the Park Board, I had the good opportunity to have served with Dennis Maschka, to have played a part in accomplishing some notable goals for the City of Austin and to have gained a great appreciation for the wonderful Park and Recreational assets we have and the fine staff that oversees them.
Thanks.
