Dave “Tolly” Tollefson is the new chairman of the Mower County Board of Commissioners.

The Fifth District county commissioner takes over for Richard P. Cummings, who did not seek re-election last November to his First District seat on the county board.

Tollefson was elected to the county board in November 2006 when he upset incumbent Fifth District county commissioner Garry Ellingson.

Ray Tucker, 2nd District, was elected county board vice chairman.

Both elections came at Tuesday’s annual organizational meeting of the county commissioners. Both were unanimous picks of the five-member board.

Mower County Auditor-Treasurer Doug Groh conducted the swearing-in ceremonies for new commissioner Tim Gabrielson, Cumming’s replacement in the First District, and Tucker, who defeated Sarah Douty last November for re-election to his fourth four-year term in the Second District.
