An Austin man is being sought for the alleged killing of a cat.

Community Service Officer Jim Dugan responded to the call at around 9:34 a.m. Wednesday after a subject reported that a cat had been hanged by a string and then burned in a fire pit according to police reports.

Dugan responded to a house in the 1100 block of Fourth Avenue Southwest and talked to three subjects living there who said that a 34-year-old man admitted to killing one of two cats at the residence and then burning it in the backyard fire pit earlier in the week.

According to the three subjects, whose names were not given, the man admitted he was drunk when he committed the act, causing the three to kick him out of the house. The subjects said they were not home when the act was committed and the suspect gave no reason why he killed the cat. The three said the cat was in a garbage bag where they had placed it after retrieving it from the fire pit.

The suspect’s whereabouts are unknown at this time.
