You did well, Chris, Jared and Michael

In the midst of a snowstorm last weekend, three Austin area residents came to the rescue of an elderly couple, whose vehicle went off into the ditch near the Lansing landfill.

Chris Stewart, 20, Jared Hanson, 15, and Michael Fadden, 23, were headed back from a Wal-Mart trip at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when they spotted a car off the road. They noticed Besse Noble, but her husband, Robert Noble, was said to have gone for help. The three boys then also found Robert, who collapsed in a ditch away from the vehicle.

They then helped both Robert and Besse into their truck to keep warm before help arrived.

This is a case of three good people who risked their lives to save the lives of two others.

“I think it made a good Christmas for the Noble family,” said Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi. “It could have otherwise been very tragic.”

Amazi said Stewart, Hanson and Fadden will be honored Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Mower County Commissioners’ meeting.

Rightfully so.

These three are heroes in our eyes, and Mower County is lucky to have them.

We are also very thankful the Nobles were found safe.
