Tri-parish youth minister honored

Keri Flahive, a youth minister for the Austin Catholic Tri-parish Faith Community has been awarded the Companions on the Journey Youth Ministry Award. This award is the highest recognition from the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry, which a diocese can award to adults.
Flahive was nominated and won because of her excellence in youth ministry as reflected in Renewing the Vision, her commitment to ongoing education and formation, her commitment to young people, her outstanding local and diocesan leadership and her years of experience.
Bishop Bernard Harrington, Bishop of the Diocese presented the award to Keri on Nov. 22 at the Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference Banquet in Mankato.
Flahive started her work with the Austin Catholic parishes as a Faith Formation volunteer at St. Augustine parish when her daughter, Tara, was in fourth grade in 1991. In 2000 she became a full-time employee of the Austin parishes and has been an outstanding leader in many areas of youth ministry.
