Thoroughbred Carpets has moved from its downtown Austin location to the Lakeside Center shopping plaza and is now open for business.
Customers were stopping in Monday, even as the business was still completing the final touches.
“I think it’s fabulous,” owner Rich Huffman said. “I think it’s going to go over well.”
Thoroughbred, which first opened its doors in December 1993 at 204 First St. N.E., moved to 201 11th St. N.E., next to the Curves fitness center, as part of the Mower County Jail and Justice Center acquisition process. Its downtown building was built in about 1900, Huffman said.
All three office employees are Huffmans: Rich and his wife, Janet, and their son, Joe.
Rich said customers can expect more selection and the same quality customer service at its new location.
“We’re a full-service, from the start of the sale to the interview with the customer to the completion of the sale,” Rich said. “If they’re not happy, we’re not happy.”
Thoroughbred carries all commercial and residential flooring, in wood, laminate, ceramic tile, vinyl and of course, carpet, with major brands like Mohawk, Shaw and Marrington.
“We have a larger variety,” Rich said.
Thoroughbred Carpets is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday; it is closed on Saturdays Memorial Day through Labor Day. Their phone number is 433-6440 and their Web site is www.tbredcarpets.com.
