The Austin Police Department reminds motorists again that the snow emergency ordinance is in effect following this latest batch of snow received throughout the area. After last weeks storm, 169 citations were issued and 14 cars towed.

“The first time is usually the worst,” Police Chief Paul Philip said. “People don’t remember.”

Calendar parking is in affect from 8 a.m. to 8 a.m. the following day which means that on even days cars are to park on the ride side of the street and on odd days the left.

There is no parking in the downtown area from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Designated safe parking areas are the swimming pool lot and the old library parking lot.
