Pacelli Catholic School now has one more way for their students to be involved and give back to their school community. The Student Ambassador Program allows students the chance to share their love for their school and tell why they feel Pacelli is a good choice in education.

The Student Ambassador program began this fall with an assembly for all students in seventh through 12th grades. Students were told the program would allow them to be disciples and share how they feel about their school, the education offered and how faith in Christ plays out in the classroom and hallways at Pacelli Catholic.

Applications included short answer questions as well as a reference from a staff member. Students selected to participate include: Spencer Holtorf, Amanda Enstad, Paige Smith, Jennie Marx, Mindy Nguyen, Lindsey Chapek, Stephanie Kocer, Danni Bilidt, Audrey Ferris, Stephanie Kasel, Halla Nelson, Kelsey Williams, Michael Bergstrom, Alycia Newago and Alejandra Salazar.

The Pacelli Catholic Student Ambassador Program is headed by director of admissions Billie Jo Wicks and Campus Ministry coordinator Jeff Austin. Wicks and Austin along with the students want to be sure that the ambassadors are more than just tour guides.

One aspect of the Ambassador program is shadowing. Student Ambassadors are able to help prospective or new students get a feel for our school by allowing them to follow them through a typical day at Pacelli and be available for questions and comments.

Michael Bergstrom has already been on the job. Bergstrom has been mentoring a new 11th grade student who joined the system in early December.

The group looks forward to helping more people learn about Pacelli Catholic School. They will be an instrumental part of an upcoming open house. To help celebrate Catholic Schools Week (Jan. 26-31), Austin Catholic Schools will open their doors to the community.

On Thursday, Jan. 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., all are invited to come and see what makes Austin Catholic Schools unique. Musical entertainment and tours will be provided. Various activities, including a book fair, will also be stationed throughout Austin Catholic Elementary and Pacelli Catholic.
