Lillian V. Miller, 91, of Grand Meadow, died on Dec. 6, 2008 at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, of natural causes.
Lillian Violet Pierce was born June 6, 1917, in Lohrville, Iowa. On Sept. 16, 1936, she married William Glenn “Buck” Miller. She was a nurses aide at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin. She was owner and operator of the Corner Stop Cafe in Elkton and was a farm wife in Elkton and Webb, Iowa. She also owned and operated Lillian’s Hobby Shop in Webb. She was active in the Dexter United Methodist Church and in People of Hope Church in Rochester. She was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her children, Grace Marlene (Robert) Hanson, Elkton, Peggy Lou Morehouse, San Diego, Calif. and Virginia Lee “Ginny-Ginger” (Darrell) Peterson, Rochester; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 9, 1979, four brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the United Methodist Church in Dexter, with the Reverend Karen Ashton officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call an hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church in Dexter. Macken Funeral Home of Rochester is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are preferred to a food shelf of the donor’s choice.
