LETTER: The kindness is appreciated

On Thursday Dec. 11 my son and I had a “boys night out” and on his recommendation we went to eat at his favorite restaurant for dinner. We decided to use the drive up and eat in the car, one of his favorite things to do. I was minus a straw so I went into the restaurant to retrieve one. During that time my wallet somehow fell. I didn’t realize this until Friday morning and in an effort to retrace my steps from the night before I called the folks at McDonald’s, and they confirmed that my wallet was indeed turned into them. I picked up the wallet and although my cash was gone, my drivers license, credit cards and a gift card were still in the wallet. To the staff at McDonald’s, I extend sincere appreciation for their professionalism and courtesy, in fact the a.m. manager even offered to buy me breakfast. This was one of the nicest things anyone has offered to do for me during a tough time. A simple gesture that speaks volumes to the size of her heart and it is wonderful to know that kindness is still in the hearts of many. Thank you to the fine folks at McDonald’s, and Merry Christmas to the person who obviously needed the money more than I. It was to go toward Christmas for my family but understanding the times, I hope it was put to good use.
