Grace Johnson

Grace Johnson, age 87 of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 17, 2008, at Fieldcrest Health Care Center in Hayfield, Minn. 
She was born Nov. 20, 1921 to Charles and Julia (Brown) Filley in Joplin, Mo.  She grew up in southern Minnesota and attended country schools.  She married Alvin Johnson on Nov. 12, 1938 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin, Minn.  They made their home near Blooming Prairie where Grace was a farm wife.  They moved into Blooming Prairie in 1970.  She enjoyed baking, cooking, entertaining, visiting, playing cards and playing the piano.  Alvin passed away on April 27, 2006.  Grace will be remembered for her cooking and unconditional love.
Survivors include four sons: James Johnson, Blooming Prairie, Minn., Robert (Linda) Johnson, Rochester, Minn., Douglas Johnson, Blooming Prairie, Minn., Lyndon (Ruth) Johnson, Blooming Prairie, Minn.; one daughter: Sharon Lundahl, Owatonna, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; two brothers; three sisters; great grandson, Ross Johnson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 22, 2008 at FirstLutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Paul Nelson officiating.  Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m., Monday at the church.  Interment is at Blooming Prairie Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to donors’ choice.
