A 32-year-old felon from Austin faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm and burglary.
Bail was set at $100,000 or $25,000 with conditions for Eddie Ricco Barlow, who was arrested early Dec. 24 after officers responded to a report of a fight at an apartment in the 600 block of Main Street.
According to court documents, a Ruger 9 millimeter pistol was discovered when police entered the apartment and the defendant allegedly reached for his waist. An officer bear-hugged him and the gun fell to the floor. The gun had a loaded magazine but nothing in the chamber.
A breath test showed Barlow had a blood alcohol level of 0.12.
The report stated that an individual identified the gun as his and said it was stolen. An officer said a burglary had likely taken place at his apartment after locating “fresh tool marks” on the door.
Barlow is charged with two felony counts of felon in possession of a firearm; felony burglary in the 1st degree; and felony theft of a firearm.
The defendant was convicted of a fourth-degree drug crime in 1999 in Freeborn County.
He is scheduled for arraignment in Mower County Court Jan. 8.
