Douglas L. Wilson, 83
Douglas Lloyd Wilson, 83, of Austin, died at his son’s home on Dec. 8, 2008.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1925, in Austin, the son of George L. and Mable (Hanson) Wilson. He attended school in Austin before entering the United States Army. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Following his discharge, Doug returned to Austin where he worked in construction for many years. On March 7, 1953, he was united in marriage to Irene Hansene Paulson at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. The couple made their home in Austin, where Doug worked as a custodian for the Austin Public Schools until his retirement in 1990. He was an active life member of VFW Post 1216 of Austin, where he served on the color guard. He also was a member of American Legion Post 91. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bingo and gambling.  He loved to dance and spend time with his family. Irene died on Feb. 4, 2007.
Survivors include four children, Debra Jensen, Kathy Kilmer, Rebbecca “Becky” (Craig) Jurgensen and Scott (Sheri) Wilson all of Austin; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Delores (Ray) Heimsness, Austin; two brothers, Fred (June) Wilson, Woodbury and Ralph Wilson of Austin; also many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; two grandchildren, Jason Thomas and Mathew Kilmer; three brothers, George “Willie”, Kenneth and Curtis Wilson and two sisters, Joyce Sloan and Eva Shatek. 
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend David DeFor, officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by VFW Post 1216 and American Legion Post 91.
