Two Department of Natural Resources grants involving the acquisition of flood property in Austin have been approved for a six-month extension.
Extended from Dec. 31 to June 30, the grants help fund the acquisition and demolition at 507 and 509 Oakland Ave. E., next to Triple J Auto; the former Dakota Joe’s building at 1100 Oakland Pl. S.E.; and 100 Eighth Ave. S.E.
Jon Erichson, director of public works, told council members Monday the city is “very close to acquisition.”
One grant, $275,000, is for the Scattered Site Acquisition Area; the other, $1.05 million, is for the Railroad Yard Revitalization Flood Recovery Area.
