The National Geographic School Bee took place at five Austin schools Thursday.

The champions and runner-ups at each school are:

Banfield Elementary: Champion, Evan Dunlop, fifth grade; Runner-up, Ezekiel Peters, fourth grade;

Sumner Elementary: Champion, Francisco Morales, fifth grade; Runner-up, Jake Reinartz, fifth grade

Southgate Elementary: Champion, Brendan Dunlap, fifth grade; Runner-up, Sarah Eich, fifth grade

Neveln Elementary: Champion, Sam Esplan, fourth grade; Runner-up, Ian Bearden, fifth grade

Ellis Middle School: Champion, William Bjorndal, seventh grade; Runner-up, Nate Krueger, sixth grade

Each school winner will now take a written test.

Up to 100 of the top scorers in the state will be eligible to compete in the state bee April 3.
