Arleigh Anthonisen

Arleigh I. Anthonisen, age 73, of Austin passed away Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008 at his home.
Arleigh was born June 27, 1935 in Austin to Hans and Margaret (Teachout) Anthonisen. He graduated from Austin High School in 1953. Arleigh married Esther Hyland on Nov. 12, 1961 at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams, Minn. He worked in retail management in Austin and in his retirement he worked as a security officer. Arleigh was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church where he ushered for more than 30 years. Arleigh was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Arleigh is survived by his wife: Esther Anthonisen, Austin: children: Arleigh (Julie) Anthonisen, Austin, Keith Anthonisen, Austin; and Margaret (Dan) Mittelsteadt, Austin, grandchildren: Andrew (Tanya), Jeremiah, Joseph, Hannah, Elisabeth, Matthew, Brandy, Nicodemus and Michael; brother: Louis (Karen) Anthonisen, Austin, sisters-in-law: Betty (Vern) Vold, Lake Mills, Iowa and Helen Hyland, Austin; brothers-in-law: Robert (Irene) Hyland, Austin and Myron (Ernstine) Hyland, Hannibal, Mo. and his dog Shasha.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Margaret Anthonisen, brother-in-law: Milo Hyland and his dog, Buttons.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Barnett officiating. Organist will be Neal Erickson. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008 and for one hour before the service. Interment will be in the Lansing Cemetery.
