An Austin Medical Center – Mayo Health System emergency room crew called Austin police to report a stabbing shortly after 9 p.m. Friday.
According to an Austin Police Department report, the 21-year-old woman had a non-life-threatening one-inch wide and one-half inch deep knife wound on her right thigh.
The victim told investigators she had been arguing with her 29-year-old boyfriend throughout the day Friday. When they returned to Austin from Albert Lea, the arguing continued after a visit to the man’s parents home. When they left the residence, the man asked to be driven to the Todd Park area, but the arguing escalated to the point where he produced a pocket knife and stabbed his girlfriend, who was driving their car. The woman drove to AMC-Mayo and on the way the boyfriend exited the vehicle and walked away.
While officers were questioning the woman at the hospital emergency room, they discovered she was wanted on two outstanding warrants and took her to the Mower County Jail for booking.
