Ramseth’s Beauty Salon, 108 Second St. S.W., has announced plans to close at the end of the year.

The business is 60 years old in 2008.

In a press release from the Ramseth family, members recalled how Lester Ramseth and his first wife, Myrtle Ask Ramseth, started the business in 1948.

Myrtle died in 1963, but Lester continued the family business.

In 1977, his son, Gary, joined the business and father and son continued until December 2005, when Lester retired.

Lester died in May 2008, but his son, Gary, continued the family business at the same location, where it began.

“After much deliberation it seems best to close the business at the end of the year,” the family said in the release.

“The family is grateful and appreciative for all the people who have been patrons and friends through the years,” the statement continued. “Some of you have been loyal all 60 years. There are lots of happy memories, and we wish you all the best.”
