“It was a team effort,” said Larry Eisenberg, the general manager of the Austin Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, after winning the Perkins Gold Flag Award for the second consecutive year at the national conference on Oct. 21, in Las Vegas.
The Gold Flag Award is given based on customer loyalty and overall performance. The score was based on surveys voluntarily taken and submitted by patrons of Perkins Restaurants nationwide. The Austin restaurant surpassed 150 other locations in the Western Division to receive the honor.
Even though the awards were given for Eastern and Western Divisions, the Austin location had the highest out of all 320 restaurants nationwide.
Eisenberg wouldn’t divulge all of the secrets of his restaurant’s success, but said, “It starts with hiring people who care about what they do.”
He emphasized that it wasn’t just his team’s success.
“The people of Austin make us what we are; it’s a great community,” he said. “It was very exciting to represent Austin.”
This was the second year in a row and second first-place finish for the location since it came to Austin in 1989.
Eisenberg, who has been the general manager at the Austin restaurant for seven years, is just getting the streak started.
“We are in the process of raising the bar,” he said.
“We have a great team that works together and does a great job.”
