It makes a difference

It’s all pretty much over. Months and months of campaigning came to an end last night as Barack Obama was declared the next President of the United States.

In addition to the national race, voters also made their choices known in state and local races as well.

While many people thought the media coverage of this election was overdone, it’s hard to argue with the levels of excitement and anticipation this election brought to voters this year.

The same was true locally, where the Mower County turnout just missed 90 percent.

That’s the way it should be.

Electing our public officials is one of the most important decisions we can make because it can ultimately affect the way we live and the surrounding areas we live in.

We’re proud of the high turnout of Mower County, and we hope the trend continues for years to come.
