Gene Enright, 79
Gene Enright, 79, formerly of Austin, died peacefully on Nov. 12, 2008 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Duluth, Minn.
He was born Feb. 21, 1929 to John and Fern (Grugger) Enright in Brownsdale, Minn. He attended area schools and served four years in the Navy during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge. He was a member of the American Legion Post 91 and the Honor Guard.
On July 27, 1957 he and DeLora Cieminski were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, Va. He was employed by Hormel Foods before having his own business.
Gene enjoyed playing hockey and coached youth hockey for several years. He as president of the Austin Hockey Association and a lead fundraiser when it built the Riverside Arena. He also enjoyed sports, the outdoors, fishing and his grandchildren’s activities. He was devoted to his family which gave him his greatest joy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Clarence (Mildred), Everett and Maynard (Jake); sisters, Mildred Leone and LaVonne Kuether.
He is survived by his wife, DeLora; son, Greg (Gerri) Enright; daughter, Susan Enright; grandchildren, Jonathon, Christina, Natalie, Nicole, Jason, Mark and four great-grandchildren.
The family thanks Dr. Jett, Dr. Krook, Dr. Kleinschmidt and St. Luke’s staff for their care and kindness and all who showed Gene their love. Condolences may be sent to 4911 Avondale St. Duluth, Minn. 55804.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2009. Arrangements by Dougherty Funeral Home in Duluth, Minn.
