Former area prep athletes finding success

Some former area prep athletes have been having success on the college gridiron this past fall, and one wrapped up a prestigious career with a high honor.
Austin grad Nate Johnson was voted to the All-NSIC second team offense shortly after wrapping up his football career at St. Cloud State University.
Johnson has 27 catches for 472 yards (17.5 per catch) and two touch downs this season for St. Cloud, which finished the year 7-4 overall. Johnson had the second-most receiving yards for the Huskies.
Johnson had the best receiving season of his four-year career for St. Cloud in 2008.
Marcus Ball of Austin has 61 tackles and 12 sacks for University of Wisconsin-Stout this season.
The Blue Devils are 5-4 and will host UW-Eau Claire in their season finale Saturday.
Blooming Prairie’s Elliott Herdina is the second leading rusher and second leading receiver for the Gustavus football team, which is 6-3 overall.
Herdina has 287 rushing yards (4.9 per carry) and one touch down, and he has caught 36 passes for 320 yards (8.9 per catch) and four touch downs.
The 2008 BP grad is tied for second with the most points scored for the Golden Gusties, and he is second in all-purpose yards.
Gustavus will host Concordia Saturday at 1 p.m.
