Austin senior Courtney Fleming started her fifth trip to the state diving competiton by making it to the finals.

Fleming was in second place after her first three preliminary dives at the Class ‘A’ State Swimming and Diving Meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Thursday and she finished the day in fifth place with a score of 217.10.

Fleming, who is just one point out of third place, will dive again during the finals Saturday, which begin at noon.

Fleming took sixth in last year’s state diving meet. She had a score of 229.20 on the first day last year.
