Hy-Vee of Austin is sponsoring a “Feed A Family” promotion during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Austin Mayor Tom Stiehm will sign a special proclamation Thursday afternoon at Hy-Vee.
For a $10 donation, Hy-Vee shoppers can purchase a ham, Mrs. Gerry’s mashed potatoes, two cans of corn, a dozen buns or bread from Sara Lee, a pumpkin pie and Mrs. Gerry’s cranberry sauce.
There will be enough groceries to feed two families, according to the sponsors.
More information about the Feed A Family promotion is available at all check-out counters in the store.
On Dec. 22, volunteers from the Salvation Army Austin Corps will pick up the groceries and deliver them to needy families.
Co-sponsoring the Feed A Family promotion are KAUS Radio, Mrs. Gerry’s of Albert Lea, Sara Lee, Hy-Vee and the Salvation Army Austin Corps.
The promotion was launched Nov. 14.
