The occupants of a rental home at 2018 East Oakland Ave. escaped uninjured from a fire Monday evening. The call came in at 5:07 p.m.

Josefina Alvarado and her three children escaped injury when the smoke alarm in the parent’s second-floor bedroom went off. Firefighters arrived on scene to find flames and smoke visible in an upstairs window.

The home was owned by Luciana Sanchez. There was no rental insurance on the property.

A cause for the fire has yet to be determined.
