David B. Gieske, 56
David Brian Gieske, 56, of Onalaska, passed away on Nov. 24, 2008 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center.
He was born in Austin on Feb. 14, 1952 to Walter and Mae (Kraby) Gieske. David graduated from Austin High School in 1970 and continued his education, receiving a diploma from Winona State University. On April 30, 1983 David married the Reverend E. Marlene Pankonin.
David worked for Hormel Foods in Austin and Key Cadillac in Edina, Minn. before starting his own business, Classic Components, where he specialized in the detail and restoration of 1955, 1956, and 1957 Chevrolets.
David enjoyed traveling, watching movies and helping his wife, Marlene, in church activities where they served families in Kasson, Minn., Spring Valley, Minn., Muskegon, Mich. and Ettrick, Wis.
David loved his dogs and especially his 1957 Chevy and memorabilia collection.
David is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; mother, Mae Gieske; sister, Mary (James) LaRock, Kasson, Minn.; brother, John (Faye) Gieske, Prattville, Ala.; nieces and nephews, Jenna, Jason, and Erik LaRock and Elizabeth Gieske.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008 at First Lutheran Church, 401 Main Street, Onalaska. Bishop James Arends, the Reverend Breck McHan, and Jason Stanton will officiate. Burial will be held in Oak Wood Cemetery, in Austin. Family and friends may call the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 401 Main St., Onalaska, Wis. on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
