Clara J. Noble, 90
Clara Josephine Noble, 90, of Austin, died on Nov. 11, 2008 at Sacred Heart Care Center where she was a resident.
Clara was born Feb. 25, 1918 in Oakland, Minn. to Joseph and Josephine (Pliml) Srp. She attended Austin High School. She married Wilfred McCauley and they were later divorced. On Oct. 10, 1946 she was united in marriage to Ralph Noble in Austin, Minnesota. Clara and Ralph have made Austin their home for over 62 years. They lived on the farm for many years before moving to the Cedars and then to Sacred Heart Care Center. Clara and Ralph sold their farm homesite to their grandson, Jason whom they also helped to raise.
Clara enjoyed life on the farm being a homemaker and mother, and assisting Ralph in running the family farm. She loved to cook, bake, work in her garden and grow flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and loved the yearly family gatherings.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Noble, Austin; daughters, Sr. Donna McPhail, Riceville, Iowa, Sandra (Dennis) Berhow, Stewartville, Marie (Darrell) King, Austin, Carol Schlichter (Virgil Waltz), Austin; grandchildren, Renae (Keith) Weipert, Bonnie (Roger) Ladner, Micki (Keith) Winkels, Ted McPhail, Matthew King, Jason Schlichter, Melissa King (Shannon Schewe); 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marion Srp, Austin; brother-in-law, Richard (Angie) Ginder, Stacyville, Iowa; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank, Chuck and Joe Srp; sisters, Marion Ginder and Luella Olson; son-in-law, Charles McPhail; grandson, Daryl McPhail.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Friends may call from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday at Mayer Funeral Home and 1/2 hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The casket bearers will be Clara’s grandchildren. Memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Care Center.
