Catherine L. Colenberg, age 91, of St. Louis Park, Minn., formerly of Blooming Prairie, Minn., died peacefully on Wednesday Nov. 26, 2008 at the Edina Care Center in Edina, Minn.
Catherine was born to Joseph and Ethel (Meehan) Ryan on Nov. 6, 1917 in St. Paul, Minn. She moved to Blooming Prairie as a young child and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. Catherine married Melvin Colenberg in February 1941 in Blooming Prairie. She attended St. Columbanus Catholic Church and enjoyed reading and baking. Catherine moved to St. Louis Park in the late 1990s to live with her daughter, Rosemarie Meagher.
Survivors include one son: James Colenberg, Minneapolis; three daughters: Rosemarie Meagher, St. Louis Park, Minn., Margaret “Maggie” Colenberg, Portland, Ore., and Sheila (John) Rousu, West St. Paul, Minn.; six grandchildren: Beth Colenberg, Scott Meagher, Collette Van Elzen, Shannon Lechtenberg, John Rousu and Mike Rousu; four great grandchildren: Lindsey Van Elzen, Jacob and Allison Lechtenberg, Samantha Rousu and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Mary; son-in-law, Joe; two brothers, John and Howard Ryan; and one sister, Rosemary Maroo.
 Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008 at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. Visitation will be held from 4:30-7 p.m. today at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and one hour before mass at the church. Rosary service will be at 4 p.m. today. Interment will be in the St. Columbanus Catholic Cemetery. Memorials preferred to St. Columbanus Church or Alzheimer’s Association.
