Man pulled from bridge

A 29-year-old developmentally disabled employee of Cedar Valley Services was prevented from jumping from the Fourth Street Northwest bridge Monday afternoon and hurting himself.
According to Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi, CVS staff called 9-1-1 to alert authorities an employee made threats to hurt himself.
Sheriff’s Office deputy, John Bachman responded to the scene near 1 p.m. Monday and pulled the man from the bridge railing.
Amazi arrived at the scene and the man, who was described as “combative,” was wrestled to the ground and placed in a squad car.
He was taken to Austin Medical Center for observation.
No charges were filed.
