A 53-year-old Austin man has been charged with sexually abusing his stepdaughter while her mother was at work.

According to court documents, an Austin police officer received information Sept. 16 that an 11-year-old girl was the victim of sexual abuse. The officer contacted a liaison officer at the victim’s elementary school, and he spoke with a sibling, who identified a family member as a possible suspect.

On Sept. 19, the officer went to the school and interviewed the victim, who alleged that she and the defendant underwent “training” when her mother was “gone away at work.”

The victim reported the abuse included multiple sexual acts, including intercourse. She had been paid in cash and “Happy Meals” if the “training” went well.

The defendant was arrested Sept. 20 and taken to jail, and was interviewed by a detective Sept. 21. The defendant alleged the victim sexually assaulted him, and denied he has sexually assaulted anyone.

The defendant is charged with three counts of felony criminal sexual conduct in the 1st degree for acts committed between Jan. 1 and Sept. 19.

The maximum sentence for each charge is 30 years in prison and/or a $40,000 fine.

According to court records, the defendant posted a $50,000 bond.

The defendant and elementary school have not been identified to protect the victim.
