James “Jim” Trotman, Sr., 92
James “Jim” Trotman, Sr., 92, of Blooming Prairie, died on Oct. 29, 2008 at Prairie Manor Care Center in Blooming Prairie.
He was born April 27, 1916 on the family farm near Bixby, Minn. to Edward and Margaret (Tierney) Trotman. After completing his education in a one room country school near Bixby, Jim farmed at home. He married Blanche Seykora on Sept. 23, 1941 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Litomysl. They made their home and raised four boys on the farm which has been in the Trotman family for over 100 years. A member of St. Columbanus Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus since 1936, Jim played the accordion and harmonica for dances at Zeiner’s Ballroom. He also enjoyed dancing, playing cards, visiting family and friends and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Jim and Blanche moved to Prairie Manor a month ago.
Survivors include his wife, Blanche, Blooming Prairie; four sons: Thomas (Elaine) Trotman, James E. (Jacquelyn) Trotman, Timothy J. (Amy) Trotman and Terrance (Kim) Trotman, all of Blooming Prairie; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister, Florence Cupkie, Owatonna.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Grant; great-granddaughter, Ariana; three sisters: Marian Marchwick, Mary Trotman and Dolores Lunning; brother and sister-in-law, William and Agnes Trotman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 3, 2008 at St. Columbanus Catholic Church with Father William Kulas officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday at Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. There will be a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary service and wake prayers at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment is at St. Columbanus Cemetery. The soloist is Franklin Vorlicek, accompanied by Marian Becker on the organ. Casketbearers are Scott, Allan, Patrick, Jill, Michael, Lee, Jeff, Ryan, Adam, Lance and Lauren Trotman.
