Atlanta Oliver, 101, of Austin, died on Oct. 28, 2008, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home. Atlanta Myrtella Thronson was born Nov. 27, 1906 in Dodge County, Minnesota to Theodore and Anna (Gilbertson) Thronson. She married Clarence Clark in 1933. Clarence died in 1958. Atlanta moved to Austin in 1953 and worked at Wallace’s from 1953 until 1964. During this time she met Charles “Red” Oliver and they were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa in 1964. Charles died in 1980. Atlanta continued to make her home in Austin, where she was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and active in her Circle there. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Center, Austin Garden Club and the Degree of Honor. Atlanta enjoyed taking care of her flowers and gardening, fishing, cooking and entertaining company.
She is survived by daughter-in-law, Joanne Clark, Bloomington; two grandsons, Michael (Julie) Clark, Eden Prairie; Bruce (Laurie) Clark, Excelsior; five great-grandchildren, Justin Clark, Jenna Clark, Ryan Clark, Adam Clark, Jack Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Anna Thronson; first husband, Clarence; second husband, Charles; son, Aaron Clark; granddaughter, Cathy Clark; brothers, Leonard, Tilford, Selmer, Howard; sister, Blanche.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements. The family prefers memorials to St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
