Eight choir members from Pacelli High School were recently selected to participate in the 19th annual Men’s Chorus/Women’s Chorus Festival. The women’s quartet will be Stephanie Kasel-SI, Halla Nelson-SII, Kelsey Williams-AI, and Emily Leif-AII. The men’s quartet is Colton Scherer-TI, Max Brennan- TII, Alex Brennan- BI, and Michael Bergstrom- BII. Kelsey Korfhage, Pacelli’s Choral Director, will be accompanying her students to this event.
This festival will be held on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the campus of St. John’s University in Collegeville. Director Kelsey Korfhage said, “The American Choral Directors Association invites its members to select eight (four male, four female) of their talented high school and college singers to participate in this event. It is an extraordinary musical experience and an exceptional learning opportunity for these students.”
Last October, more than 900 singers participated in the festival. This included 50 high schools and 13 college men’s and women’s ensembles. College ensembles participating last year represented Carleton College, Northwestern College, St. John’s University, the College of St. Benedict, St. Olaf College, the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and Minnesota State University Moorhead, North Central University, Concordia College, and St. Cloud State University.
The beautiful Abbey Church on the college campus will again be the site of all three Festival concerts. The two Intra-Festival Collegiate Concerts will feature the college ensembles. The Finale Concert will feature massed men’s and women’s choirs comprised of the combined high school and college singers.
As in past years, the Finale Concert will close with all voices joining in a final selection. The Final concert will begin at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Admission to the Finale Concert is $4 for adults and $2 for students. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.
