Walk for Animals seeks pledges

The 12th annual Friends In Need Walk For Animals takes place Sunday, Sept. 7.
Presently, volunteers are seeking pledge donations for the fundraiser.
The Friends In Need animal shelter at 1010 10th Dr. S.E houses stray cats and dogs.
It is operated by the Mower County Humane Society and receives no subsidies from either the city of Austin or Mower County.,
It is a private, non-profit public service.
The annual Walk For Animals fundraiser is the largest single fund-raising event of the year for the animal shelter.
The event begins with 1 p.m. registration and the 2 p.m. walk around the Mill Pond along the Mill Pond Pathway in Horace Austin Park.
There will be prize drawings for all participants as well as hot dogs, cookies and refreshments. Local artist Nini Johnson will draw pet portraits for a donation to the fundraising cause.
Pledge forms may be picked up at the MCHS shelter, Austin Veterinary Clinic, Double K Specialty, Veterinary Medical Clinic or the Austin Public Library.
