The Southland volleyball team (3-5 overall, 1-2 Three Rivers) let a two-game lead slip to Lewiston/Altura (4-4 overall) on the road Thursday.
The Rebels lost by scores of 25-21, 30-28, 19-25, 20-25, 7-15 after taking the first two games.
“We lost focus,” Southland head coach Angie Smith said. “We got less and less aggressive and started tipping instead of hitting. They just dug it up and hit it right back at us.”
Katie Barthel had eight kills, 18 digs, and 12 assists for the Rebels, Chelsey Smith had nine kills, 25 digs, and two blocks, Emily Howton had 12 assists, Amber O’Connell had 22 digs and five kills, and Hilary Johnson had 12 digs and six kills.
Southland will host a seven-team tournament Saturday at 8:45 am. with the title game being played at approximately 5:30 p.m. Teams attending will be Blooming Prairie, Lyle/Pacelli, Mabel/Canton, Planview/Elgin/Millville, Medford, and Alden/Conger.
